London Wine Fair 2019
This time, international and British buyers, wine experts, representatives of retail and HoReCa businesses got acquainted with drinks from three Ukrainian companies.
For taste-off, products of both large enterprises with a substantive history and of new craft producers. Categories were also expanded: among the participants of the stand and tasting were not only Ukrainian wines, but also premium vodka and craft whiskey with Ukrainian roots.
As of today, the British market is one of the main display platforms of the world’s trends in the alcohol market.
Here, tastes, aromas, design and styles are tested. Especially for that purpose, dedicated tasting zones are traditionally dedicated to topical issues, innovative drinks and wines winning the press taste-offs. In the opinion of witnesses, this 39th London Wine Fair had a great success and presented over 14,000 wines from 32 countries of the world, innovative tasting, master classes, and plenty of presentation opportunities. The observer of Drinks+ mentioned a significant interest to Ukrainian wines, as well as to strong alcohol drinks, on behalf of visitors of the fair.
Events were held in the following zones:
- Innovation Zone, The Education Zone – in partnership with Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), Drinks Britannia, dedicated to British drinks, including wine, beer, ciders, and alcohol. Esoterica was a collection of exclusively small importers with high quality products from all of Great Britain.
- In the Masterclass zone it was possible to join experts to get acquainted with certain eminent and respectable wine making regions and styles.
- The heart of the show was the Trading Floor, where visitors could get acquainted with a wide range of world brands, producers and importers. At this global ground, among such large wine-making countries like France, Italy, Germany and Spain, Drinks+ Media Group represented Ukraine with its own stand.
London Wine Fair has once again given the Ukrainian periodical the right which until today was enjoyed only by most reputable magazines of the world – such as Decanter or Wine Spectator: the possibility to present under its own mark – Editors’ Choice – best wines, as well as strong alcohol.
The tasting ser was opened by the constant partner of international activities of Drinks+ Communicative Group, INKERMAN Ukraine, with two items of wines of a new, including for the Ukrainian market, product line. The symbolizing Ukrainian distinctness PRIMA MARIA INKERMAN was an art replica of the creative work of artist Maria Priymachenko, and also estimable wines of Ukrainian wine makers:
- PRIMA MARIA CHARDONNAY INKERMAN,
- PRIMA MARIA CABERNET INKERMAN.
Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignon wines were recognized by international wine experts as decent representatives of these bins.
“Quaffing, delicate, with light citrus notes in the after-taste”, that is how tasters commented. As to red wine, visitors were pleasantly surprised by its rich, fruit aroma and taste, with notes of black currant and wild berries.
The opinion about Inkerman wines was concordant: it is marvelous product which has a very high potential for the export market.
That is how wines of the new product line were praised by distributors from Poland and the Baltics, the USA and Germany. And, of course, the vivid design, full of authenticity, special energy and national color, was unilaterally mentioned. PRIMA MARIA INKERMAN became a real visit card of our country’s wine-making.
The segment of strong alcohol – a traditional national product in premium format – was presented by SOE “UKRSPYRT”. Today, the company actively develops its export and presented two items of Ukrainian vodka of UKRAINIAN SPIRIT Trademark for tasting:
- UKRAINIAN SPIRIT,
- UKRAINIAN SPIRIT WITH PEPPER.
This estimable Ukrainian drink which was presented at our stand attracted deserved attention. The vodka with Ukrainian spirit was to taste of, first of all, Englishmen. It was tasted non-stop, regardless of its strength. Special attention was paid to pepper vodka. Experts and international buyers praised taste characteristics adherent to this drink, as well as export plans of the potent producer which is scaling up its work on both Ukrainian and international markets.
The third participant of the London tasting, manufacturer of a wide range of craft Ukrainian strong alcohol, CLASSIC STAR, for now makes its first steps on the international arena. The sample was presented for the London tasting:
- Whiskey GOLD STAR.
Whiskey is made from domestic products, according to ancient recipes, under the supervision of the owner and Blending Master, in one, Yuri Tymchenko.
Many positive feedback was left about Ukrainian whiskey, especially by lovers of that traditional drink in Britain.
The national product enjoyed great popularity: “Whiskey is uncommon, authentic, slightly sweet, soft, vanilla”.
And although whiskey is not a traditional product for Ukraine at all, there were no negative reactions or criticism towards GOLD STAR. And the design of the bottle in the old fashion style against the background of hundreds of alcohol manufacturers, did not leave indifferent the professionals passing by our stand.
